What was he thinking?

"Silence fell on the car like a skydiving rhinoceros that didn't realize until too late that without opposable thumbs it couldn't pull the rip cord."

"[There is an] error of thinking that, via evolution, nature strives for perfection. The reality, however, is to the contrary. What succeeds in nature is usually no more than the best available solution to an environmental challenge. And the best solution does not have to be anywhere near perfection. You can be the second-slowest member of your group and still avoid the predator."

--The Accidental Homo Sapiens by Tattersall and DeSalle

But what happens the next time you're chased by that lion?

Aren't you glad I'm back to posting? How else would you stay informed?

New Headline--'Ants living in the Australian desert are ready for 'insect Armageddon'

Happily, Australian ants are not planning to take over the world (at least, we don't know that's what they're planning). They're just very flexible in responding to swings in temperature, rainfall, land use, etc.

So, yay. When Armageddon does arrive, the ants will go marching two by two....

Something Else to Worry About

"A shortage of bees makes it necessary to haul bees to agricultural areas for pollination purposes, so it had to happen sooner or later. A truck carrying bees through Coeur d'Alene, Idaho overturned on I-90 in June and spilled up to a million bees. Traffic was backed up for a couple of hours, and drivers were warned to keep their windows rolled up.

To make matters worse, Coeur d'Alene was hosting an Iron Man Triathlon event at the same time. That couldn’t have been pleasant."

I knew it! This is just another way exercise can kill you!

I knew it!

I found this on the internet, so it must be true!

The Real Reason You’re Craving Junk Food? You’re Thinking Too Hard!

If you’re like many office workers, your desk job gives you a double fat increasing whammy: Not only are you sitting, inactive, at a desk for most of the day, but this type of mental, knowledge-based work actually makes it more difficult to control appetite and may make us eat more calories and fat. Since the work requires glucose for maximum brainpower—well, we naturally reach for more fuel.

Now just THINKING about being fat is making me fat!

Perspective

Posted on May 28, 2017 at 7:14 PM Comments comments (6)
Try this at home: Get three large bowls. Fill one with hot water, one with room-temp water, and one with ice water. Put one hand in the hot water and one in the ice water. Keep them there for about 15 seconds. Then put both together in the room-temp bowl. What do you feel?

It all depends on your perspective. I don't want to talk politics, but it has been fascinating and an eye-opening journey. It's all about perspective. Get three "normal," reasonably sane and intelligent people and show them the same video--and one person sees an egomaniac bully, one sees nothing to fuss about, and the third sees a patriot in action.

Why is that? Why do three witnesses to the same incident tell three different stories? Why is eye-witness testimony the most believable AND the most unreliable?

I guess you just have to keep it all in perspective.

Political but Funny

Posted on May 23, 2017 at 3:29 PM Comments comments (2)
At the very least the American political machine offers endless opportunities for hilarity.

"After President Trump complained yet again of being treated unfairly, particularly by the press, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., jabbed him in an interview Thursday.“Well, first of all, I’ve been worse treated than President Trump has, let’s make sure that we know about that,” McCain said lightly during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

The senator was referring to his five-year-plus ordeal as a prisoner of war. Memorably, Trump questioned McCain’s heroism during the campaign when he declared, “I like people who weren’t captured.”

Other responses on social media pointed to politicians who were assassinated as examples of those had “been treated worse or more unfairly.”

Then again, JFK wasn't killed by a poison pen.

Politics as unUsual

Posted on December 26, 2016 at 11:14 PM Comments comments (1)
I found this in the comment section of a political article. I made it multiple choice so that you could choose your own hero/villain according to your politics. I think it makes if funnier but sadder, too.

Liberals/conservatives are not even close to being the haters of everybody that the immoral left/right are as haters.  But we will get better at hating the haters and we will take back America from the infidels and immoral haters on the left/right who are determined to destroy the constitution and America.  So enjoy your hating time now because it will end.

Can you tell the politics of the person who wrote this? Choose your labels and it could be a crazy from either side.

Adults Only?

I was cruising around Vista Print, which hosts my website and provides my images. I love the picture on my website...and then I found it in the "Adult Services" section of Vista.

I wasn't sure what to think. And then I decided to think that yes, I provide "Adult Services" with my stories. And I'm going to stop thinking about it...
